How It Works

XERF is the first monopolar radiofrequency platform to fire two frequencies in the same shot. The manufacturer reports that 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz together warm the dermis, the fat layer beneath it and the deeper SMAS. That is the layer a surgeon lifts in a facelift.

What is XERF?

The manufacturer calls it structural skin tightening. XERF warms the layers that support your skin, so your body lays down fresh collagen over the following weeks. No needles are used at any stage.

How does XERF work?

Is there any downtime after XERF?

The manufacturer reports no downtime after XERF. Most patients go back to work, make-up and their normal routine the same day. Mild warmth or pink skin usually settles within a few hours. We go through aftercare with you before you leave and give you a number to call. Report anything unusual to the clinic.

How many XERF sessions will I need?

The manufacturer recommends two XERF sessions, four to six weeks apart, for the first course. Many patients then keep the result topped up with maintenance once or twice a year. The right number for you depends on your skin, your age and the areas treated. That plan is agreed at your consultation rather than fixed in advance.

When will I see results from XERF?

Some tightening can be felt soon after the first session. The real change builds gradually as collagen remodels over the weeks that follow. The manufacturer’s own before and after photographs are taken four weeks after two treatments, so that is a fair point at which to judge progress. We photograph your face at every visit so you can compare.

How long do XERF results last?

The manufacturer reports that XERF results typically last six to nine months. Skin carries on ageing, so most patients book a maintenance session once or twice a year to hold the improvement. How long your own result lasts depends on your skin, your age, sun exposure and lifestyle. No radiofrequency treatment stops the ageing process.

Who is XERF for?

Who should not have XERF?
